From the author
I think mostly Wisconsin citizens are the ones who have been exposed to (and hopefully changed by) the "unique" ideas behind Pen Tonic, since the legacy strips were originally published in the UW-Green Bay student newspaper, The Fourth Estate.
Most readers have responded with confused reactions, not understanding the main gag, or outright disagreeing with its message, or saying it's not funny (who ever said I was trying to be funny?)
If anything, I wanted it to express universal truths and possibly leave some leeway for many interpretations. Some ambiguity could actually help readers find their own truths in their personal daily lives, therefore giving meaning to those lines and ink splotches that I committed to paper.
In that, the comic truly serves a purpose and a cartoonist is validated by his readers.
An idea can change the world, only if you have the courage to express it.
