This is official! Film director Zack Snyder and screenwriter David Goyer have confirmed that the sequel to Man of Steel will feature Batman, for the first time in a live-action adaptation! And all it took was a tweet I made.

The cowl is not hard. It’s just a slip-on mask, much like Mortal Kombat’s Sub-Zero. The cape loses it’s functionality provide by Nolan, and is just part of the costume, and is a little smaller so it doesn’t get in the way. The vest doesn’t have a raised bat ensignia, it’s just stenciled onto the bulletproof vest. And the rest of the suit is either sweat-pants type material (cotton) or could just be spandex because that’s what athletes wear anyway. The boots are just boots.
Also, the cape is just there so it can get beaten to tatters, again, symbolic of his mortality and psychosis, much like Spawn.

I think Ben Affleck’s Bat-suit is going to be less vignitted than the previous live-action versions. It might actually resemble the true blue and gray Batman. If done right, you will be wondering, “Man, that guy is nuts”. It’s a dude in a “costume”, but with a blue police-officer’s bulletproof vest on. If I were making Bruce Wayne into a Charles Bronson type, then he’d have nothing to lose. Why would he want to wear advanced technology armor? It’s just a bat costume. He’s out for his death wish.
Besides, you have to build up to him faking his death anyway. You can’t watch Batman be invincible throughout the entire film. He has to look mighty yet mortal by the end. He has to slowly be broken throughout the film to represent his mental state. I hear they might actually re-use the old plot from old script pitch of him losing his wife as a motive for fighting.
And if Snyder’s Superman breaks necks, expect this Batman to kill, too. Batman with a rifle or shotgun might actually work.

I wonder if Snyder and his gang are going to play the Mitt Romney story. Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor are the same kind of “rich, power-hungry white man”, both running for US President, but Wayne ultimately losses to Luthor. He therefore takes that misplaced hate out on Superman. It’s all about ego-stroking.
But I can imagine him going full nuts by wearing the true gray and blue spandex suit. It makes him even more dangerous that he’s got nothing to lose, unlike the armoured Burton and Nolan versions. And this Batman is kinda like Spawn in that he uses guns and assault rifles. He jumps from vehicle to vehicle and climbs out of the wreckage.
The question is how to you present it so that he can take punches from The Alien without dying right away? No one wants to see a Zod bulky suit fight again. Or is it that simple just to introduce Kryptonite rings?
Would this be more of a Frank Miller Batman? A harder-around-the-edges Batman?
It’d be nice to see that contrast. God vs. Man. By the end, Bruce Wayne is beaten, bloodied and broken, while The Alien doesn’t even have a scratch. But The Alien still took a beating.
And I was thinking if there was somekind of joke in there, since Superman is already a ruthless neck-breaker, that he was the one who breaks Wayne’s back (much like Bane) and that his why he ends up in a wheelchair for Batman Beyond.

Wow. Ben Affleck is confirmed as the new Batman. How will this play out? I get the feeling his agent submitted footage of Affleck as Jack Ryan, Daredevil, George Reeves to WB as resume. If that’s the tone Snyder is going for, who knows? Wow. Ben better thank his buddy Kevin Smith for pushing Daredevil on his career. If you’re an actor, you only dream of a role this culturally significant.

I don’t know much about the lore, but it seems there is a more logical reasoning behind Lex Luthor’s resentment for Superman if Lex has the same kind of ego. He’s out to conquer the world, but along comes this “alien” that steals his spotlight. So naturally, it’s about the two of them colliding to prove who is, wait for it, “the world’s finest”.
Now, take Luthor’s motive, and place that into Bruce Wayne. It’s all about being “the best human” on the planet, which includes being it’s protector. So we work in that vigilante element so he’s not just outright power hungry.
It’s really like Robocop 2, where the government tries to create an alternative to Superman, just in case they can’t control him.
So by the end, it was all a big understanding, and Wayne fakes his death after their huge brawl.
And we cut to the future, where we introduce all the new young superheroes, including Batman Beyond. Because Goyer mentioned something about how Superman is suppose to be the “first superhero”, so Batman can’t exist before that in Snyder’s Superman universe. Even though Batman is more of a cultural movie success, which is why the name Batman has to appear in the movie title.

Take this with a grain of salt, but there’s news from an unreliable source floating around that WB has offered Christian Bale $50 million to reprise his role as Batman. It’s plausible, but it would seem like a quick cash-in. But then again, it could be monumental that a Hollywood studio would have the balls to do this. And they would have to bring the two Batmen into it because Bruce Wayne would be old, and the younger Batman Beyond is the one that actually fights Superman. What say you? Would WB dare pull this stunt?

After years of rumors, we’re finally going to see Superman and Batman share the silver screen! http://bit.ly/17utbfd

Rumors are still stirring now that Zack Snyder is meeting again with Frank Miller for consultation. AICN reporting that Old Boy Josh Brolin might be a good contender. Seeing as Hollywood is already setting up his typecast in that direction, it might work. But I think Clint Eastwood would make it more prestigious.

Zack Snyder confirms that the sequel to Man of Steel will feature Batman. To prove it, they release the official logo. The Batman logo looks like that of the Frank Miller Batman, an older Batman. I pitched the idea of an older Batman to replace the over-used Lex Luthor archetype. Warner Bros. wins either way because people will watch anything with Batman in it, yes, even Batman and Robin. So WB marketing might try to sell it that way, making sure both flagship franchises work their titles into the final title.
